Dean Woodward picks out his favourite bet builder for the Euro 2024 Final between Spain and England.
Draw
Betting on a draw might seem dull, but for any game involving England, it's religiously been a smart move. In their last five matches, four have them have finished a draw , including three 1-1 draws against Denmark, Slovakia. Switzerland, a 0-0 against Slovenia and then a 2-1 victory against Netherlands coming from a 90th minute winner from Villa star Ollie Watkins.
Spain have been the most impressive team in Euro 2024 and rightly head into this one as heavy favourites, but I wouldn’t write off this England spirit just yet. England's defence has limited opportunities for opponents and they just seem to keep grinding out the results, with improvements coming after each game.
Back to back “best” performances for Southgates side will see them enter this final full of hope, looking to put the previous msitakes behind them and bring it home. Extra time could be on the cards again.
Mainoo over 0.5 shots
Since earning a spot in the starting XI, the Manchester United youngster has fit in to this Englands set up seamlessly, arguably their best performer. Despite his limited international and first-team experience, his potential is ridiculously high.
His poise and skill on the ball are exceptional for his age, turning defence into attack with ease. When England attack, he frequently positions himself on the central right side, near the edge of the box, linking well with Foden and Saka, not afraid to have a pop.
Mainoo has now made five starts for England, taking a shot in each game. Three of these starts were in the Euros, where he recorded two shots against both Switzerland and Slovakia, and one in the semi-final against Netherlands.
Even in England's toughest match of the tournament, Mainoo is likely to be floating in that right hand side channel where he will likely get opportunities to find space and get a shot off.
Cucurella over 0.5 fouls
The Spanish left back has been rather impressive under Luis de la Fuente and will likely see lots of action with Saka and even Foden down that flank.
Cucurella has made a foul in all five Euro matches and I think that trend will continue facing Saka who has drawn ten fouls across the six games this tournament, drawing at least one foul in all six.
In Chelseas two games against Arsenal in the Premier league last season where these two are matched-up, Cucurella fouled Saka twice in Arsenals 5-0 win and twice in the 2-2 draw. A solid match-up which actually saw him booked in both matches.
