Tottenham to win

Tottenham were strong operators against the lesser lights in Postecoglou’s first season. Spurs won all six fixtures against promoted sides, picked up top honours in seven of 12 trips to teams in 10th and below, whilst also scoring at least twice in five of their six encounters with bottom-six opposition. A repeat looks most likely on Monday night.

Leicester’s efforts have been below-par in pre-season with Cooper critical of his side’s performances. Last time out, the Foxes were stuffed 3-0 by Lens, a match that saw City lose the shot count 17-2 – both of Leicester’s efforts came from outside the area and even the club’s own 12-minute highlight package did not feature a single City attack.

With Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka and Conor Coady all absent through injury, the Foxes come into the campaign a little undercooked and easily opposed.

Over 1.5 Goals

Tottenham scored at least twice in 27 of their 38 Premier League dates in 2023/24 and I’m happy to back Spurs repeating that feat in victory here.

The visitors will take their aggressive, attacking approach to the King Power and have bolstered their options in forward areas with the big-money signing of Dominic Solanke, who is expected to start.

With Heung-Min Son, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski also in situ, plus the likes of Brennan Johnson to call upon - Postecoglou’s gung-ho outfit should have enough firepower to breach the Leicester backline at least twice.

Dominic Solanke Over 0.5 Shots on-Target

Dominic Solanke scored 21 goals across all appearances in 2023/24, earning him a potential club-record move to Spurs at a reported fee of £55 million. The former Bournemouth hitman managed to land a shot on-target in 26/38 (68%) Premier League appearances for the Cherries last term and those figures should improve at Tottenham.

Last season Solanke fired multiple efforts off against five of the six promoted sides and also hit the target in five of those six showdowns. I’m happy to support the striker repeating that feat against newly-promoted Leicester.
