Premier League Predictions: Mark O’Haire backs United to beat Spurs at home

Newcastle vs Manchester City

Man City might be missing Rodri but the Citizens have a red-hot record against Newcastle and will be buzzing after their last-gasp point against Arsenal. In contrast, the Magpies have underwhelmed despite their points tally this term and were well-beaten at Fulham last time out. The Toon may not be capable of containing City.

Arsenal vs Leicester

Arsenal are W19-D2-L0 when hosting bottom-half teams in the Premier League since the start of 2022/23 and it’s difficult to dismiss the Gunners as major favourites here. Mikel Arteta’s men have averaged over 3.00 goals per-game during that 21-game sample and a repeat should be well within range against newly-promoted Leicester on Saturday.

Brentford vs West Ham

Julen Lopetegui is already under huge-pressure at West Ham. The Irons invested significantly in the summer yet the Spaniard has been unable to find the magic formula with the Hammers stuffed by Chelsea (0-3) and Liverpool (1-5) in the last week. Fortunately for the visitors, Brentford are missing key men in forward areas.

Chelsea vs Brighton

Chelsea remain a difficult team to read right now, though the Blues do look a touch too short against Brighton at Stamford Bridge. The Seagulls impressed when picking up a point at Arsenal earlier this season, and have also toppled Manchester United under Fabian Hurzeler – Albion can follow Crystal Palace’s lead by avoiding defeat here.

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton’s wait for a first Premier League victory this season may come to an end on Saturday. The Toffees have been better than results have suggested and could take advantage of a Crystal Palace side that’s yet to find consistency in 2024/25. Everton have won seven of 12 home games against bottom-half teams under Sean Dyche.

Nottingham Forest vs Fulham 

Nottingham Forest preserved their unbeaten record by picking up a point at Brighton last weekend and the Tricky Trees should fancy their chances when welcoming Fulham to the City Ground. The Cottagers do their best work in the capital under Marco Silva, returning defeats in exactly half of their 40 away days since returning to the top-flight.

Wolves vs Liverpool

Wolves’ tough start to the season looks unlikely to ease on Saturday evening as the Old Gold welcome high-flying Liverpool. The Reds have put their surprise loss to Nottingham Forest behind them by posting convincing victories over Milan, Bournemouth and West Ham, and should extend that streak here at Molineux.

Ipswich vs Aston Villa 

Ipswich left it late at Southampton last week to pick up a second point of the season, though the Tractor Boys may not enjoy the same change out of Aston Villa. Villa are W11-D4-L3 when travelling to bottom-half opposition under Unai Emery, including victories at both West Ham and Leicester (whilst conceding) this term.

Manchester United vs Tottenham

There are signs that Man United are heading in the right direction after a calamitous 2023/24 and the Red Devils are favoured in Super Sunday’s showdown. Tottenham tend to toil on their travels, returning only three away wins in 17 when excluding the bottom-four with Ange Postecoglou’s outfit shipping multiple goals in 12 of those 17 matches.

Bournemouth vs Southampton

Bournemouth are W5-D2-L2 when welcoming bottom-half opponents under Andoni Iraola – the Cherries have averaged 2.11 goals per-game during that same sample and a repeat could well be in the offing here against Southampton. Saints have largely been competitive since promotion but are severely lacking top-flight quality in both boxes.
