Alexander Isak To Score

Erling Haaland’s continuing struggles in front of goal has opened the Golden Boot race up, and Alexander Isak is firmly in the hunt. The Swede is in fourth place with 11 goals, scoring seven in his last five league games.

This season, he is averaging 0.77 goals per 90 from 0.66 xG and 3.49 shots per 90. His numbers have remained consistent from last season, where he averaged 0.83 goals and 0.81 xG per 90.

Much has been made of Manchester United’s recent struggles, with Amorim’s side outside the top half at Christmas for the first time in 35 years. The Red Devils have conceded nine goals in their last three games, keeping just six clean sheets this season, with most coming against struggling sides.

Newcastle will expect to get a result at Old Trafford, and if they do, don’t be surprised to see the in-form Swede on the scoresheet.

Kobbie Mainoo To Be Carded

Club captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Wolves, while Manuel Ugarte picked up his fifth booking of the season, meaning he is suspended for Monday’s game. Kobbie Mainoo should retain his place in the starting lineup after playing only 63 minutes of Thursday’s game.

The 19-year-old has struggled for form this season and has started just 11 games in the Premier League. On average, he is making 1.52 fouls per 90 in the Premier League, averaging 0.46 yellows per 90.

Newcastle see a lot of action in the midfield, with Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali key to Eddie Howe’s system. Twenty centre midfielders have been booked against Newcastle this season, and Mainoo looks appealing odds to make it 21.

Joelinton To Be Carded

After struggling up front when he first signed from Hoffenheim, Joelinton has reinvented himself as a box-to-box midfielder under Eddie Howe. The Brazilian has won plaudits for his tenacity and aggression in midfield, adorning himself to the Newcastle faithful.

The 28-year-old was booked for a scuffle with Morgan Rogers in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa, making it two yellows in two games and six in 17 starts this year for an average of 0.38 per 90, lower than last year’s total of 0.47.

Joelinton is averaging 2.11 fouls per 90, with 12 centre midfielders booked against Manchester United already this season.

Amad Diallo Over 2.5 Shots

Amad Diallo has been a rare bright spark in a dismal season for the Red Devils. The 22-year-old has registered 12 goal contributions in 26 appearances (15 starts) and is a pivotal figure in Ruben Amorim’s system. While Diallo was originally used as a wingback, Amorim has started to utilise the Ivorian in more advanced areas where he is flourishing.

Diallo is averaging 2.82 shots per 90 this season and has hit at least three shots in four of his last six -failing against Wolves (1) and Viktoria Plzen (2).
