Accompany Wednesday's footy bonanza with this cheeky 6/1 double!
West Ham v Brighton
I am absolutely convinced West Ham – who are generously priced at around evens – will beat Brighton on Wednesday.
While they have made the Amex Stadium a fortress, the Seagulls are absolutely dreadful away from home; the performances in their last two away defeats against Burnley and Bournemouth were pitiful. Seven away defeats in 10 is a fair reflection of how Brighton travel.
West Ham also have their inconsistencies. While five wins from seven is a fantastic return, two defeats in their last three – against Watford at home and Burnley away – will certainly give Brighton hope.
Albion have beaten the Hammers three times in-a-row (which is perhaps why West Ham are priced as they are), although as someone who has had the misfortune of watching most of Brighton’s away games this season, I do see this run ending on Wednesday.
There’s absolutely no correlation between Brighton’s home and away form; at this price, a West Ham win is well worthy of inclusion.
Huddersfield v Burnley
2019’s first relegation six-pointer sees Huddersfield welcome Burnley to the John Smith’s.
The Terriers have now lost seven on the trot, and defeat on Wednesday will be seen as a massive step towards the Premier League trap door.
David Wagner’s side have also lost seven of their 10 home games this season – scoring a measly four goals in the process – which is why I’m plumping for a Burnley win at 3/1.
Considering Burnley have an identical away record to Huddersfield at home, 3/1 looks like a great price, especially considering they come into this on the back of a very credible 2-0 victory against West Ham.
Burnley performed well against Spurs and Arsenal in their last two away games. Despite falling to a defeat on both occasions, it took a stoppage time Christian Eriksen goal to steal the points for Spurs, while the Gunners were only truly comfortable after sealing their 3-1 win in the 91st minute.
If they perform to similar levels against Huddersfield, Burnley will win.
