Magdeburg v Heidenheim - 2. Bundesliga - 17:30

We have two picks in the 2. Bundesliga to start off with, and the first is a 2/1 shot: Heidenheim to beat Magdeburg away from home.

The hosts have just one home win all season, while Heidenheim have only lost three times on the road; perhaps a draw looks the more likely result on paper, but Frank Schmidt’s men have won three of their last six away games, and considering they’re 19 points ahead of Magdeburg, the spoils are there to be won.

This is very much the value bet of the treble.

Heidenheim - 1pt @ 2/1

St. Pauli v Duisburg - 2. Bundesliga - 17:30

Promotion-chasing St. Pauli have surprisingly lost their last two league matches 4-0, but I’m backing them to return to winning ways against second-bottom Duisburg.

The visitors have two points from their last five away games, and the gulf in quality between the two sides – reduced somewhat by St. Pauli’s recent form – should still be large enough to ensure a home win.

St. Pauli - 1pt @ 41/50

West Brom v Birmingham - Championship - 20:00

West Brom have generally been unimpressive at The Hawthorns this season – particularly considering their league position – but I’m still backing them to beat Birmingham on Friday.

James Shan guided The Baggies to an impressive 3-0 victory against Swansea in their last home outing, and you’d be hard-pressed to back against them considering Birmingham have lost four matches in-a-row without scoring.

A nine-point deduction has thrown the visitors into a relegation battle, and I can see their misery compounded further by the Black Country side.
