Thursday's footballing fixture list resembles a barren wasteland, but we've managed to dig out a 5/1 double!
Iraklis v Doxa - Greek Football League - 13:00
To say there are slim pickings on Thursday is somewhat of an understatement, but the show must go on, and I’ve dug this double from the depths of the European football scene.
My first pick is in the Greek second-tier at 13:00, where I’m backing Iraklis and Doxa to play out a draw.
Doxa haven’t won in seven away games (losing three times), but overall they’ve earned seven points from their last three matches – most recently a 2-0 win over second-place Apollon Larissa.
Iraklis have drawn three of their last four at home, and considering both sides are very much marooned in mid-table, a draw seems the most likely outcome.
Chambly-Thelle v Cholet - French National League - 20:30
Hopping over to the French third-tier, I have promotion-chasing Chambly to beat fifth-place Cholet.
The hosts are unbeaten at home this season – winning 10 of their 14 matches – and have conceded just one goal in their last seven matches at Stade des Marais.
Cholet are no mugs, but two away defeats in their last four is enough to convince me that Chambly will take the points.
