Will this 6/1 treble prove lucky?
Dynamo Bucharest v CS Concordia Chiajna - Romanian Liga I - 19:00
It was tough to pick out an acca this Friday, so I’ve ventured further afield – starting in Romania, where I’m backing Dynamo Bucharest to beat Concordia Chiajna in their Relegation Group fixture.
Dynamo have won five of their last six home matches, and don’t look in any imminent danger.
Concordia have been slightly less lucky: three points from their last fourteen matches spells real danger – a run which includes an away defeat against Dynamo in the pre-split league.
It’s hard to make a case for Concordia getting anything from this one.
Tenerife v Gijon - Spanish Segunda - 20:00
Over in the Spanish Segunda, I’m backing Tenerife and Sporting Gijon to play out a draw.
With both sides looking fairly marooned in mid-table (though Tenerife are still slightly looking over their shoulders at the relegation zone), 11/5 for a draw looks generous, particularly after a quick consultation of the form book.
Tenerife are unbeaten in six (drawing four), and have lost at home just twice all season; it’s evident they’re an incredibly rugged outfit.
Gijon, after a run of just two points from their opening seven away games, have lost just one of their subsequent nine on the road. While four wins and a draw from their last five sees Gijon head into this bang in form, Tenerife’s record at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López suggest this one is likely to end all square.
Porto v Boavista - Portuguese Primeira Liga - 20:30
Porto and Benfica are neck-and-neck at the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, though Dragões have the opportunity to put the pressure back on their old rivals when they host Boavista on Friday.
The visitors have just three points from their last 11 matches away from home, which is why I’m backing Porto to win with a -1 handicap.
Five of Boavista’s eight away defeats have been by a two-goal margin or more, while Porto’s form at Estádio do Dragão – 11 wins from 13 – looks ominous.
Porto are no strangers to swatting opponents aside at home this season, so a -1 victory looks well within reach.
