FC Koln v Darmstadt - 2. Bundesliga - 17:30

Despite their shock 3-0 defeat against Dynamo Dresden on Sunday, I’m backing Koln to return to winning ways—thus putting themselves on the brink of promotion—against Darmstadt on Friday.

Darmstadt are a solid mid-table side, but Koln have won seven of their last nine at home, and will be looking for a reaction after the Dresden debacle.

Koln - 1pt @ 3/10

Bordeaux v Lyon - Ligue 1 - 19:45

This next pick might come as a surprise: I’m tipping Bordeaux to beat Lyon at home – priced very generously.

Not only have Lyon failed to beat Bordeaux in their last five meetings (losing twice), but they’ve lost three of their last five away games in Ligue 1.

The reason why Bordeaux are 9/2 will be down to that fact they’ve won one of their last nine, but in their four home games against the league’s top five (discounting Lyon, of course), they’ve taken 10 points, making a home win on Friday seem great value.

Bordeaux - 1pt @ 9/2

Liverpool v Huddersfield - Premier League - 20:00

My final pick is hardly a surprise: Liverpool to beat Huddersfield with a -2 handicap.

The fact that Huddersfield simply cannot score goals—The Terriers have failed to score in seven of their last eight away games—means the handicap market is the only way to go for this match.

Be wary of backing a bigger handicap than -2, however; Jurgen Klopp’s men have a Champions League semi-final against Barcelona to consider next Wednesday, so either we’ll see a ‘weakened’ Liverpool side from the start, or they’ll take their foot off the gas once victory is assured.
