You know the football is winding down when I start an acca with a Lithuanian league match.
But hey, ho – we work with what we’re given.
Atlantas Klaipeda are a poor side, but opponents FK Palanga are a really poor side.
The visitors have lost all five of their away matches—being trounced in four of the five. Atlantas aren’t much better, but two wins from their five home games is enough to convince me they’ll win.
Utrecht v Heracles Almelo - Dutch Eredivisie - 17:30
A couple of Eredivisie Europa League play-offs next, starting with Utrecht v Heracles.
The hosts won the away leg 2-0, and have lost only twice on home soil since September. Heracles, meanwhile, have lost five of their last six matches, and look a spent force.
I expect Utrecht to comfortably win this second-leg.
Vitesse v Groningen - Dutch Eredivisie -19:45
Though Vitesse lost their first-leg against Groningen, I’m backing them to roar back with a victory on Tuesday.
Vitesse have made GelreDome a fortress this season—losing there just once—scoring a hatful of goals in the process.
Groningen have lost three of their last four on the road – failing to score in seven of their last eleven.
