Silkeborg v Hobro - Danish Super League - 18:00

My first BTTS pick is Silkeborg v Hobro in the Danish top division.

Put bluntly, Silkeborg are dreadful; they sit bottom of the division, shipping nine goals in just three matches. However, while Hobro (who have scored and conceded in every game this season) should probably beat them, the sides look close enough to justify a BTTS pick.

Zwolle v Willem II - Eredivisie - 19:00

As the Eredivisie kicks-off, I have BTTS in Zwolle v Willem II.

Last season, despite finishing mid-table, both sides conceded goals for fun: Zwolle shipped 57, Willem II 72.

I’d expect a fun curtain-raiser on Friday, and with over 2.5 goals scored in 13 of Willem’s last 15 games of last season, we could be in for a treat.

Luton v Middlesbrough - Championship - 19:45

As the Championship finally begins on Friday, I have BTTS in Luton v Middlesbrough at a well-priced 17/20.

As Jonathan Woodgate looks to de-Pulis Boro, I wouldn’t expect the same dullness as last year – but prepare for some teething problems.

Luton scored goals for fun last season, and while Boro’s defence was the joint-best in the league last time around, Woodgate will be sure to sacrifice some of that solidity for a little more expression in the final third.

An interesting opening bout.
