Friday's cheeky treble shoots at 5/1!
HIFK v KPV - Finnish Veikkausliiga - 16:30 -
I’ll kick off in Finland, where it’s significantly easier to tip due to the fact their season started months ago.
I’m backing HIFK, who sit 9th, to beat KPV, two places and nine points below them. The hosts have won three of their last four matches at home, while KPV have lost six of their last eight on the road, failing to score in their last three.
Furthermore, these two sides have met in HIFK’s back yard twice in the past year or so, with the home side taking the spoils both times.
21/20 looks good value.
OB v Randers - Danish Super League - 19:00
Skipping along to Denmark, I’m backing OB to beat Randers at home.
OB have beaten Randers in five of their last six clashes with them at home, and I’m confident of a repeat.
Though the hosts have lost two of their opening four, both defeats were closely-fought affairs against FC Copenhagen and Brondby—two of the best sides in the league—but a brilliant 1-0 away win at Esbjerg (who finished third last season) last time out shows they’re still a force to be reckoned with.
Randers’ two away games thus far have returned just a single point, both against pretty ordinary mid-table sides.
Anderlecht v Mechelen - Jupiler Pro League - 19:30
My final pick is both teams to score in Anderlecht v Mechelen.
Vincent Kompany’s side have had quite a sticky start, earning just one point from their opening two league matches, and they’ve got their work cut out against newly-promoted Mechelen, who have opened their season brilliantly.
After losing their opener 3-0 against champions Genk, Mechelen beat big hitters Zulte Waregem and Genk 2-0 and 3-1 respectively.
There have certainly been teething problems for Kompany at his new club, and while I’d be very surprised if they fired a blank on Friday, Mechelen’s five goals in their last two suggests they’ll fancy their own chances as well.
This could be an entertaining one.
