Cardiff v Luton

I love the Carabao Cup early rounds – the BTTS potential is through the roof, and I’m hoping for plenty of success this week.

My first of three picks is Cardiff v Luton.

Neil Warnock’s men have been uncharacteristically porous this season—keeping just one clean sheet in their five matches thus far—and with a host of personnel changed imminent, I don’t expect their defence to tighten up any more on Tuesday.

They face a Luton side who have seen both teams score in all but one match this season, and they are certainly one of the more exciting sides on the circuit.

I’m confident about this one.

BTTS - 1pt @ 3/4

Fulham v Southampton

Fulham playing at home against Southampton looks to be another solid BTTS pick.

The Cottagers have no shortage of goals in their side, and I’d be surprised if they don’t trouble the scorers on home soil – particularly with Ralph Hasenhüttl’s focus on attack.

However, the Saints come into this on the back of two good performances against Liverpool and Brighton (though their result at the Amex would’ve been very different had Florin Andone not been stupidly sent off), and their squad has enough quality to score against a Fulham side with just two clean sheets from their five matches this season.

BTTS - 1pt @ 3/4

Grimsby v Macclesfield

My final pick is Grimsby v Macclesfield.

11 goals have been scored during Grimsby’s last two matches, and their League Cup tie with Macclesfield, who have found the net in four of their last five matches, looks to be a goer.
