The focus is on Germany and Spain for this 6/1 treble!
VfB Stuttgart v Wehen - 2. Bundesliga - 17:30
My first of two selections in Germany comes in the second division, where I have leaders Stuttgart to beat basement boys Wehen with a -1 handicap.
Wehen have been battered a number of times this season—most recently a 5-2 home defeat against Arminia Bielefeld—and this fixture is surely another one of those cases.
Curiously, only one of Stuttgart’s six victories have been by more than a single goal, but you have to assume they’ll stick a good few past a side who have shipped 23 goals in just eight games. The different in quality will ultimately tell.
Hertha Berlin v Fortuna Dusseldorf - Bundesliga - 19:30
Hopping up a tier, I expect Hertha Berlin to beat Fortuna Dusseldorf on home soil.
After a pretty sticky start, Hertha have won their last two matches, including a brilliant 4-0 away win at Koln, and while they have a poor record against Fortuna, I think they’re value to win on Friday.
The visitors are in absolutely horrendous form, having earned just a single point from their last five matches, and 22/25 is enough to tempt me to back the home side.
Real Betis v Eibar - La Liga - 20:00
Real Betis have won two of their four home games, but considering the other two (one draw and one defeat) were hampered by red cards, I’m relatively confident—if they can keep 11 men on the pitch—they’ll have enough to beat Eibar.
Eibar sit below Betis, but have won their last couple of games in the league. However, they have just two points from their four away games, and with a ropey recent record at Betis (L2, D1), the value is with the hosts.
