Saturday's EFL acca is a tempting 12/1 shot!
Preston v Blackburn - Championship
Preston North End are one of the best sides in the Championship, so I’m confident they beat stuttering Blackburn on Saturday.
Alex Neil’s side are unbeaten at Deepdale this season—winning five of their seven matches (drawing only to Leeds and Bristol City)—while Rovers earned just two points from their last five matches.
Furthermore, Tony Mowbray’s side have lost four of their six on the road, so you’d have to think evens is a good price for a home win.
Birmingham v Luton - Championship
Staying in the Championship, I have Birmingham beating Luton at St. Andrew’s.
Though I don’t think they’re a particularly good side, Birmingham do have a decent record at home – winning four of their last five.
As for the Hatters, they’ve lost five of their seven away games, and defensively they’re something of a shambles.
The value is with the Brummies.
Southend v Ipswich - League One
Into League One next, where Ipswich are my pick to bounce back from consecutive defeats to beat a shockingly bad Southend side.
Sol Campbell has a monumental job on his hands to keep Southend—who have a worse record than Bolton—in the division. The Shrimpers have just one point from their seven home games, scoring six and conceding 23 (twenty three); they are a shambles.
I’m not too concerned that Town have now lost back-to-back games against decent Accrington and Rotherham sides – they should be far, far too good for Southend on Saturday.
Peterborough United v Coventry - League One
Completing this four-fold, I have rampant Peterborough beating Coventry on home soil.
Posh currently sit top of the pile in League One, and have lost just one of their last 12 league games (winning eight); they’ve also scored an impressive 14 goals in their last five matches, and I believe they’ll really take some stopping.
Coventry have been a little hit-and-miss of late, but while they’ve lost just one away game all season (drawing the rest), they’ve failed to score in their last three on the road, and if they misfire on Saturday, Peterborough may eat then alive.
