Burton v Accrington - League One

While there’s plenty of FA Cup action on Saturday, I’m going to tuck into the League One and Two fixtures, where I’ve identified a nice treble.

First off, I have Burton beating Accrington at home.

The Brewers are one of the form teams in the division—having won five of their last six (losing only, interestingly, to Accrington)—but this is where I see revenge being served.

Stanley have lost four of their last five in all competitions, and considering Burton have won their last four league home matches against Saturday’s visitors, this is a price worth backing.

Stevenage v Plymouth - League Two

Into League Two, and I fancy Plymouth to beat Stevenage on the road.

Boro come into this after a confidence-boosting 4-0 win at Cambridge—scoring as many in that game as their previous 12—but I’m still not convinced they’re out of this awful slump, and this overall lack of potency will still cost them against Plymouth.

Ryan Lowe’s men have won 10 of their last 13 in the league, including their last three away games, so while Stevenage briefly ended their downturn against Cambridge, I’m confident The Pilgrims will be too strong for them on this occasion.

Morecambe v Cambridge - League Two

Finally, at a chunky 7/4, I’m backing bottom side Morecambe to beat the aforementioned Cambridge.

The Shrimps have really struggled on the road, but at the Globe Arena they’ve been more than competitive of late – winning three and drawing two of their last six games, most recently triumphing against a Port Vale side with promotion aspirations.

Cambridge, having just shipped four home goals against a Stevenage side who simply don’t score, have picked up just two points from their last eight away games, failing to score on six of these occasions.

Despite being underdogs, Morecambe are the side who I expect to win.
