Liverpool v Shrewsbury - FA Cup - 19:45

This was a tricky one. Jurgen Klopp-less Liverpool kids v Shrewsbury at Anfield.

While I was tempted to back the visitors, Liverpool at home, at odds-against, is still the direction I’d like to go here.

Liverpool’s kids were tonked by Aston Villa in similar circumstances earlier in the season, but a side not much stronger than what we’ll see on Tuesday beat full-strength Everton at home in the previous round of the competition.

Furthermore, Shrewsbury are winless in their last seven league matches, and while the nature of this game will surely see the players raise their game, the Anfield factor (and the fact that Liverpool still have some excellent youngsters), should justify backing the hosts at the given price.

Liverpool - 1pt @ 28/25

Oxford v Newcastle - FA Cup - 20:05

My second pick is an Oxford win/draw double chance at home to Newcastle.

The U’s have impressed me all season. Not only have they been rock-solid in League One, but they’ve excelled against Premier League opposition this season in the cup competitions.

Karl Robinson’s were great value for their draw at St. James’ Park last month, and in the League Cup, they beat West Ham 4-0 before losing 3-1 to Manchester City in very competitive fashion.

As for the Magpies, they’ve already drawn away at League One opposition this season (against Rochdale), and for this reason I fancy the hosts to get something from this replay.
