Thursday's continental double shoots at 6/1!
Royal Antwerp FC v Genk - Belgian First Division A - 19:30
In Belgium, I’m very much backing Royal Antwerp against Genk.
The hosts have an absolutely exceptional home record—winning nine and drawing two of their 11 home games—and I don’t see this slowing down any time soon.
As for Genk, they’ve lost half of their away games (most recently a 4-1 mauling at Gent), and Antwerp being odds-against to exploit this modest record on Thursday looks like outstanding value.
Real Sociedad v Mirandes - Copa del Rey - 20:00
At a chunky 12/5, I also have Real Sociedad beating second-tier Mirandes in the semi-final of the Copa del Rey – with both teams scoring.
La Real have won eight of their last 11 games in all competitions, but at home they’ve kept just two clean sheets in 11, and this openness will give encouragement to giant-killers Mirandes in this first-leg.
The visitors have already stuck two goals past Celta Vigo, three past Sevilla and four past Villarreal on their way to this stage, and while it’s not the perfect measure of quality, they’ve still scored the second-most away goals in the Segunda.
I fully expect Sociedad to win this opening game, but sprightly Mirandes to nick a goal at this price looks tempting.
