Kicking off in Turkey, I’m backing Trabzonspor to beat Yeni Malatyaspor.
The hosts are in absolutely dreadful touch, having earned just one point from their last seven games – as well as a single point from their last five at home, which is pathetic.
I’m backing Trabzonspor at odds-against considering they’ve won seven and drawn two of their last nine.
Liverpool v Atletico Madrid - Champions League - 20:00
At a chunky 17/10, I’m backing Liverpool to beat Atletico Madrid with a -1 handicap to quality for the Champions League quarter-finals.
Though Liverpool have now lost three of their last five games, it’s absolute madness to back against them at Anfield, particularly on a (cliché alert) Special European Night.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have only failed to win twice at Anfield this campaign (the 5-5 draw with Arsenal in the League Cup and the 1-1 draw with Napoli in the Champions League group stages), and we’ve seen time and time and time again how they rise to the occasion in Europe – and this team is special enough to do so again.
Furthermore, while Atleti have such a formidable reputation for repelling sides, the cold hard fact is that they’ve won just one of their last 12 league and European away games, and if Liverpool can prevent them from getting that away goal, the pressure will be cranked up too high for even Diego Simeone’s men.
The Reds to win by at least two goals and progress is my second tip.
