LEG 1: Southampton v Bolton: Southampton to Win @ 19/40
Southampton head into this fixture in strong form, having won four of their last five league games. Consecutive 1-0 victories over Portsmouth and Norwich have boosted confidence, with the latter securing their first away win of the season. Despite starting the campaign with a four-point deduction, the Saints have climbed to seventh, having scored 20 goals in nine league matches. Cyle Larin has been particularly influential, leading the Championship scoring charts with seven goals.
The Saints' recent defensive improvement is another positive, keeping consecutive clean sheets while scoring first in six of their last seven games. Bolton, meanwhile, have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three matches, with six of their last seven games producing over 2.5 goals. Although their 3-1 win over Wolves on Tuesday provided a timely boost, they have conceded 17 goals in nine league matches, suggesting Southampton should have opportunities to exploit their defensive weaknesses.
Bolton's historical head-to-head record against Southampton is a potential concern, but the sides have not met since 2010, making past results less relevant to their current form. Given Southampton's stronger start, home advantage and improved defensive organisation, the hosts look well placed to secure another three points.
LEG 2: Derby v Stoke: Both Teams To Score - Yes @ 31/40
Stoke’s recent matches have offered plenty of goals. They beat Bolton 2-1 before suffering a dramatic 3-2 home defeat to Middlesbrough on Tuesday, having come from behind twice before conceding a stoppage-time winner. Both teams scored in each of those two games, and Stoke’s attacking threat remains a key reason to consider BTTS. Their latest results also suggest they can find the net, although defensive lapses continue to cost them.
Derby, meanwhile, are struggling near the bottom of the Championship table. They sit 23rd after 10 matches, with just one win and 19 goals conceded. Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat away to QPR exposed their defensive weaknesses once again. Their problems at the back are compounded by the serious injury to centre-back Sondre Langås, who is expected to be out for around 12–13 weeks. Ryan Nyambe could be required to fill in centrally as Derby look for a solution to their defensive issues.
The recent statistics add weight to the selection. Derby have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six matches, while Stoke have also gone five games without one. Both teams scored in four of Derby’s last six league matches, while the same outcome landed in each of Stoke’s last five. The head-to-head record is also encouraging, with both teams scoring in four of the last six meetings. However, their most recent meeting finished 2-0 to Derby in April 2026.
LEG 3: Wigan v Reading: Reading to Win @ 19/20
Reading look a strong option to take all three points against a struggling Wigan side. Wigan sit bottom of League One and have managed just one point from their last four league matches, leaving them short of confidence and struggling to turn performances into results. Their most recent outing ended in a 1–0 defeat away to Stevenage, adding to a difficult run of results.
Reading, by contrast, are in much better form. They sit sixth after an emphatic 5–1 away win at MK Dons, their first league away victory of the season, and are unbeaten in their last four league games. With 22 goals scored in their opening nine league matches, they have shown they possess one of the division’s most dangerous attacks. Their goals are also coming from across the team, which is particularly encouraging with top scorer Jack Marriott and creative midfielder George Earthy still unavailable.
The head-to-head record further strengthens Reading’s case. They have won each of the last four meetings with Wigan, scoring in all four and keeping Wigan out on every occasion. The most recent encounter finished 3–0 to Reading in March 2026, following consecutive 2–1 wins and a 2–0 victory in August 2024. Wigan have therefore struggled to find a way past Reading in recent meetings, while the Royals have consistently found a route to goal.
LEG 4: Grimsby v Northampton: Grimsby to Win @ 8/11
Grimsby have hit a difficult patch, losing their last three League Two matches, most recently a narrow 1–0 defeat away to Port Vale. However, a return to Blundell Park gives them a good opportunity to get back on track. They have conceded just four goals in five home league games, showing that they are generally more difficult to break down on their own ground.
Their underlying attacking numbers also offer encouragement. With an expected-goals figure of 1.64 per game, compared with Northampton’s 1.12, Grimsby have shown greater potential to create quality chances. If they can turn that attacking threat into goals, this is a favourable fixture in which to end their losing run.
Northampton have struggled badly at the start of the campaign. They sit 23rd in League Two, with only one win from their opening eight league matches and just four goals scored. They have also gone four matches without a win in all competitions. Their latest outing saw them draw 1–1 away to York City, despite having only 23% possession, highlighting their ability to grind out a result but also their limited control of games.
Defensively, Northampton have shown signs of vulnerability. They have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last four matches, giving Grimsby reason to believe they can create scoring opportunities. Northampton have managed clean sheets against Swindon and Newport, but both came at home, and their away performances have been less convincing.
Grimsby’s recent losing streak is a concern, but this fixture offers a realistic chance to respond. Their stronger home record, better attacking underlying numbers and Northampton’s struggles in front of goal all point towards the hosts having the advantage.
LEG 5: Salford City v Crawley: Salford City to Win To Nil @ 13/8
Salford City head into this fixture top of League Two with 19 points from 10 matches, and their recent results make a strong case for backing them to win without conceding. They have won four consecutive league games, including a convincing 2-0 victory away at Cheltenham on 10 October. At home, their defensive performances have also been impressive, with clean-sheet wins over Swindon and Fleetwood in their recent run.
Crawley, by contrast, are bottom of the table with just five points from eight league matches. They have scored eight goals and conceded 15, highlighting the problems at both ends of the pitch. Their recent matches have often been high-scoring: both teams scored in five of their last seven games, while five of their last six reportedly went over 2.5 goals. That trend suggests Crawley can contribute to an open game, but their defensive record also gives Salford a clear opportunity to take control.
The key supporting statistic is Salford’s ability to score first, having reportedly opened the scoring in each of their last eight matches. They have also kept two clean sheets in their last three meetings with Crawley, while their recent home form includes three consecutive league wins without conceding. Salford have conceded only two goals across their first five home league games, a strong defensive return that underlines why they are difficult to break down at Moor Lane.
