Monaco can ensure City don't have things all their own way at the Etihad on Tuesday.
Man City v Monaco - Tuesday 19:45, BT Sport 1
A strong Man City side were held by Huddersfield at the weekend in the FA Cup but with Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling impressing in recent weeks, City’s youthful attack has looked to be returning to top form. The weekend result ended a four game winning streak and there have been signs this season of this team’s potential, no more so than when dismantling Barca here in the group stage. They are now unbeaten in nine home games in Europe, during which time Real Madrid and PSG have also visited.
Monaco won at Wembley against Spurs in the groups but were beaten 3-0 in Leverkusen and have not kept a clean sheet in 12 European away matches. They famously won away at Arsenal at this stage a couple of years ago. However, French clubs have a rather unenviable record on these shores having gone just W5-D4-L20 away to English teams in Europe since 2006/07 and we’ll avoid the match outcome markets. Monaco have conceded in eight of their last nine away matches across all competitions, however, they’ve scored more goals this season than anyone else across the Big Five European leagues, so with both teams looking better going forward than defending we could see a relatively open game. Monaco will be keen for an away goal and we think they can get it, with Both Teams to Score an attractive 1.75 shot.
When looking for a Monaco player who might unlock the City defence Bernardo Silva looks a likely candidate. He’s scored in both his away Champions League appearances this season and has four goals in his last four away matches in Ligue 1. Cutting in from the right wing he possesses an excellent left foot and at 5.5 we like him in the Anytime Scorer market.
