The DW surface is already far from conducive to pretty football but recent visitors Sheffield Wednesday (0-1), Norwich (2-2) and Preston (0-0) aren’t afraid to mix it up and Grigg believes they adapted to the conditions rather well. For a Forest team that likes to get the ball down and play, though, it could be a different matter.
Gary Brazil is promising a better show from the Reds than witnessed seven weeks ago, citing the 2-0 FA Cup third round defeat against the Latics as the one of the lowest points in their season. However, enough has changed in Lancashire since that last visit to negate any tactical advantage Forest might have gained from that meeting.
Warren Joyce recruited 13 new players in January and though this will the seventh game of the subsequent calendar month, it’s fair to assume Wigan have the strength in depth to cope. With Bristol City at leaders Newcastle, they know that victory will most probably lift them out of the drop zone for the first time since mid-October and their intensity should reflect that.
