Matthew O’Regan is back with a midweek Championship Acca at 7/1 after two wins from his last three picks.
Ipswich vs Bristol City
Leg 1: Ipswich To Win
Billed as the pre-season title favourites, Ipswich had a slow start to life back in the Championship. However, over the last 15 games, Kieran McKenna’s team is the most in-form team in the league, averaging 2PPG.
The Tractor Boys boast the second-best home record in the league – only league leaders Coventry have accumulated more points. Ipswich have won their last five games at Portman Road and know a win will see them into the automatic promotion places and close the gap on Coventry.
Bristol City are ninth, teetering on the edge of a top-six finish as they look to amend last season’s playoff woes. Under Gerhard Struber, The Robins have been solid if not unspectacular, but struggled and looked lethargic in their 0-2 loss to Preston and 0-0 draw at Oxford.
Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham
Leg 2: Birmingham To Win
Sitting on -7 points, Sheffield Wednesday are 35 points from safety and will most likely be the earliest team to ever get relegated from the Championship. Off-the-field issues with ownership have made it an uphill battle for Henrik Pedersen’s side, who have yet to win since September and have taken just four points from 14 games at Hillsborough.
With 111 points, Birmingham broke the League One points record and looked to continue this momentum into this campaign. However, slow, possession-based football has seen the Blue fans slowly losing patience with Chris Davies. Birmingham is in 14th, eight points off the playoffs, mainly due to their poor away record, taking just nine points on the road. However, against a despondent Sheffield Wednesday side, Birmingham should look to arrest their away-day troubles.
West Brom vs Norwich
Leg 3: Both Teams To Score
Norwich were included in the last BTTS winning article, so if it isn’t broken, why look to fix it? The Canaries beat Wrexham 1-2 last time out and have now seen BTTS in 12/14 away games. Under Phillipe Clement, they have won six from thirteen, with BTTS clicking in ten, including the last eight on the road.
A poor start to the season saw rookie manager Ryan Mason dismissed, with Eric Ramsay hired from Minnesota United in the MLS. In his opening game, the 34-year-old saw his side defeated 3-2 against Middlesbrough, thanks to a late Delano Burgzorg winner. BTTS has now landed in 9/13 games at the Hawthorns.
Wrexham vs Leicester
Leg 4: Both Teams To Score
Wrexham’s four-game winning streak was halted with a 1-2 loss to Norwich – a game in which the hosts were the better side. It now means a league high 11/14 home games have seen BTTS for Wrexham.
Leicester’s misery was further compounded, losing 2-1 to rivals Coventry despite leading at half-time. The Foxes now sit in the bottom half after relegation last season. It was the 10th game in a row where Leicester have seen BTTS, leading the league for games that have seen BTTS (21/27). The reverse fixture was an entertaining 1-1 draw, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a similar one on Tuesday night.
