Can Ole take one step closer to his first United trophy as boss?
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the FA Cup this season (and not just because my own team are still in it!), and Wolves v Manchester United looks absolutely fascinating.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s unbeaten domestic run finally came to an end at the hands of Arsenal last week, and Wolves boss Nuno will feel the door is open for his side to sneak past them and into the semi-finals.
We’ll come onto my predicted result shortly, but my first tip is for there to be under 2.5 goals scored (after the 90 minutes). Just 33% of Wolves’ Premier League matches have seen over 2.5 goals, and while United’s figure is a meatier 69% away from home, this won’t be the sort of match where both sides are going hell for leather from the off.
At 17/20, this is well worth putting 2pts into.
Now, for the all-important question: who will win?
Wolves have already beaten Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs this season – on top of draws against Manchester City and United – while United have already triumphed at The Emirates and Stamford Bridge to reach this point.
In my opinion, despite Wolves’ strong record against the big boys, United will progress, and they’re good value at 11/8.
I wasn’t impressed with United on Sunday when they lost 2-0 to Arsenal, but then again, I’ve not been particularly impressed with Wolves during their FA Cup run: beating Liverpool Reserves was fairly impressive, but laboured victories against Shrewsbury (which required a replay) and Bristol City weren’t exactly world-beating. Anyway, as we all know, the form book goes out of the window for cup ties.
United have the bit between their teeth in the cup this season, and they’ll beat this excellent Wolves side.
I have quite a self-explanatory price boost for my final tip: Marcus Rashford to score first.
With Romelu Lukaku injured, Rashford will definitely start against Wolves, and considering he’s the most likely goalscorer on either side this Saturday, 6/1 looks incredibly generous.
