Madrid can extend their lead at the top of La Liga by beating Valencia on Wednesday.
Valencia v Real Madrid - Wednesday 17:45, Sky Sports 1
Real Madrid have two games to make up on most of the rest of the division and the first of these sees them travel to Valencia in a bid to extend their one point lead at the top of the table. Valencia come into this fixture after a 2-0 win against Bilbao that saw them remain in 15th, seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Valencia lost four of their first five home games but since then have lost only one of their last five at the Mestalla. However, they’ve already lost 2-0 against Atletico and 3-2 against Barca and whilst they managed draws at home to both Real and Barca last term, both those results came amidst a 10 game unbeaten run here to start the season and since then results have dropped off significantly.
Real picked up their first away win in three last time out as they won at Osasuna, having gone to Barca and Sevilla prior to that. They’ve kept only one clean sheet in their last seven on the road and so we expect them to have to score at least twice if they’re to pick up the three points. That shouldn’t be a problem as Valencia have conceded more than once in seven of their 10 home games. Indeed, both teams have scored in all six meetings between these two since 2013/14, with five of these seeing more than three goals, making Over 3.5 Goals worth backing at 2.3, but we’re going with Real to win and both teams to score as our standout selection.
