Real Madrid v Las Palmas – Wednesday 20:30, Sky Sports 2

Real Madrid’s stunning comeback against Villarreal on Sunday night kept their title bid firmly on track. The pivotal moment in the match came when a contentious penalty decision went their way while still 2-1 down. Zidane’s men certainly rode their luck, but now that they’re back at the Bernabeu (where they’ve won their last eight), they should have no problem shrugging aside a Las Palmas team who’ve lost their last four.

Las Palmas haven’t had much luck in those defeats, losing each by just a single goal, most recently dominating proceedings at home to Sociedad only for a goalkeeping howler to hand the visitors all three points. Their performances on the road are of slight concern, losing eight of 10 winless matches since an opening day victory at Valencia, but they’ve only gone down at the likes of Sevilla and Atletico by a solitary goal.

Real have been comfortable without blowing teams out the water at the Bernabeu this term. Only three of their 12 there have had more than three strikes and they each came against bottom-six clubs. Nine of Las Palmas’ last 11 have had no more than two goals as they’ve been relatively solid at the back but underwhelming up front, netting just eight times across these. Although we don’t anticipate an upset, this will be Real’s sixth game in 20 days, so we don’t expect a rout either. Under 3.5 goals looks generous at 2.3.
