Real Betis v Real Sociedad – Friday 19:45, Sky Sports 5

Real Sociedad remain in fifth, level on points with Atletico Madrid, after a frustrating late equaliser gave Eibar a share of the points when the two sides met on Tuesday. This Friday they travel to a struggling Real Betis side, whose victory over Malaga was their first win in six attempts. However, the hosts are 10 points clear of the relegation zone and that win has given them a large buffer so they should be safe.

Sociedad have every reason to be confident for this one based on their form against bottom-half sides this season. They’ve won all but one of their visits to bottom-half clubs this season, keeping clean sheets in five of these seven trips and winning by at least two goals on five occasions as well. They’ve been level at the half in four of their last five such games, and given that Real Betis have been level or better at half-time in each of their last six at home against top-half non-Big Two sides, we wouldn’t say no to the Half Time Draw at 2.08.

For a longer shot, we like the look of the Sociedad Win to Nil. Barring a predictable loss at the Bernabeu, Sociedad have shut out three of their last four opponents away from home, and their strong away record against bottom-half sides suggests they’re more than capable of doing so here. However, the suspension to Juanmi, added to the injury to Willian Jose, means we just prefer the former bet.
