Gijon v Deportivo – Sunday 11:00, Sky Sports 3

Gijon were on the receiving end of a textbook Barcelona thumping at the Nou Camp on Wednesday. Their defensive frailties were badly exposed by the deadly attacking trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar, and Carlos Castro was inches from skying over the bar from a yard out but instead put the ball in the roof of the net for Gijon’s only goal in the 6-1 drubbing. The Deportivo side they face drew with Atletico midweek to extend their winless run to 11 – they are just three points clear of Gijon.

Deportivo’s away record this season has been woeful, and things have been particularly dire recently. They’ve lost each of their last three away matches, conceding nine in the process, and while their 4-0 defeat by Leganes last weekend was the first time they’ve failed to score in eight away games, they remain winless on their travels so we expect them to struggle here. Gijon have been without a win in their last five in the league at home, but after going undefeated in their last three against bottom-six sides they’ll feel like they stand a good chance of beating Depor here.

Gijon may have had a rough time of it lately, but they rested most of their first XI against Barca with this game in mind. So with a virtually fully fit squad and no losses at home to Deportivo since 1998, they’ll fancy themselves for this one. With Depor scoring regularly on the road we’ll back the Home Win and Both To Score.
