St Etienne v Caen - Sunday 14:00, BT Sport ESPN

St Etienne were dumped out of the Europa League by Man Utd and their league form isn’t the best either as their 2-1 defeat at Montpellier was their second in their last three games, with Marseille and Bordeaux creeping up on them in 5th. Caen, meanwhile, ended a run of three straight defeats with a home win over Nancy to move up to 15th, but they’re just a point clear of the drop zone.

St Etienne have won four of five unbeaten home games and have lost just once on their own turf all season, so they’ll fancy their chances of getting back to winning ways. However, they’ve only managed draws at home to Nancy and Dijon, both of whom are currently below Caen in the table and so they’re perhaps a little short at 1.75 when their poor current form is also taken into consideration.

Part of the reason they’re that price is because Caen have lost 10 of their 13 road games this term, but there have been signs of improvement recently as they’ve lost only one of their last three on their travels, winning at 9th-placed Guingamp in that time. The draw looks a good bet here at 3.6 in what should be a low-scoring encounter: four of St Etienne’s last seven at home have seen fewer than two goals, whilst Caen’s last four away have had fewer than three strikes.
