Everton could fill their boots against Sunderland at Goodison on Saturday.
Everton v Sunderland – Saturday 15:00
Everton are currently enjoying an eight-game unbeaten streak that has seen them win five times, including 3-0 and 4-0 victories over Southampton and Man City respectively, though they were frustrated in their last match as they were held to a goalless stalemate by Middlesbrough. They’ve been consistently good on home turf this season, only losing once (to a late goal in the Merseyside derby), and they’ve won their last three at Goodison Park whilst netting 13 goals.
Sunderland were unable to build upon their 4-0 trouncing of Crystal Palace, taking a battering of the same scoreline at home to Southampton, leaving them with just one win in eight whilst they remain at the foot of the table on goal difference. Prior to victory over the Eagles, David Moyes’ side had lost five on the bounce away, and with seven defeats from seven trips to top-half sides this season, this looks like an uphill task for the Black Cats.
Everton have averaged three goals a game over their last five home matches, despite playing Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City, and with Sunderland conceding an average of two goals a game over their last eight, we think Everton -1.5 on the Asian handicap represents good value at 2.18. Sunderland have failed to score in three of their last four, and excluding their 4-0 win over a hapless Palace, Sunderland have managed just two goals in their last five on the road.
