Spurs moved down to third after losing their last game against Liverpool, but this was only their third defeat this season, and they’re undefeated when playing those outside the top-six. At home, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are yet to suffer defeat this term as their record reads W10-D2-L0, including seven wins on the bounce while keeping five clean sheets and scoring 20 goals in the process.
Stoke got their first win in four as they beat a struggling Palace at home, and Mark Hughes’ side now hold an enviable record against teams below them in the table that reads W8-D4-L2, but when facing teams above them their record dramatically shifts to W0-D4-L7. Against top-six sides that record worsens further still, with five defeats and two draws this season. On the road, Stoke have had a pretty tough time of late, losing four of their last five, though they have had to travel to Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea in that time.
Spurs have been very good at beating weaker sides this season, with their record against teams outside the top-six W12-D5-L0, and given Stoke’s record against teams like Spurs we can only really see this going one way. However, Stoke have only failed to score once in their last 10 road trips and have netted in each of their four at top-six sides this term, and with Spurs only getting three days rest before this one we’re backing Spurs/both teams to score.
