It’s hard to get too excited about the goings-on at the top of the Premier League (unless you’re a Liverpool fan); the Reds are romping home with the title, and their utter dominance has prompted not unrealistic discussions about an unbeaten season. This is now the level at which they are operating.

Well, if they are to go unbeaten, navigating this trip to Leicester will take them another significant step closer to matching Arsenal’s achievement – although, in my opinion, this current Liverpool side is superior to Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles. Pitchforks at the ready…

It can be argued that this is the perfect time for Liverpool to face Leicester; The Foxes are winless in a couple of Premier League matches, they were outgunned at The Etihad, and belief of another Premier League miracle has started ebbing away.

However, despite Liverpool’s serial winning this season, away from home there is still a sense Klopp’s side stumble over the finish line a little more often than perhaps they should. Of their eight away games in the league, The Reds have only won two by more than a single goal (as far as criticisms go, it’s a fairly innocuous one, as they are still winning!), and considering Leicester are unbeaten at home, winning seven of their nine matches, you have to give them a fairly decent chance of getting something.

Jamie Vardy got his customary goal against a top six side at The Etihad last week, and the whole of the King Power, not least Vardy, will be absolutely desperate to rain on Klopp’s parade this Boxing Day.

There’s also the matter of Liverpool’s Club World Cup campaign; their gruelling 120-minute final against Flamengo will undoubtedly still be felt by the players, and injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum leaves them very light in midfield.

The King Power will be raucous, Liverpool perhaps a little jaded after their travels to the Middle East, and ultimately, winning and winning and winning and winning is incredibly difficult, which is why I’m backing Leicester to hold Liverpool to a draw.

The visitors don’t really do Premier League defeats, but with all of their other distractions, injuries and air miles, Klopp would be pretty content with a Boxing Day point.

Draw - 1pt @ 17/6

Due to the aforementioned injuries, I expect James Milner to start against Leicester, and for that reason I’m backing him to be shown a card.

Milner has been shown three yellow cards this season, despite starting just five Premier League matches, and considering what’s at stake, and the speed at which Leicester transition, there’s every chance Jimmy M is put in a take-one-for-the-team scenario.

15/4 is a lovely price.
