It’s finally back. While the Bundesliga has given us a much needed footballing injection in recent weeks, we now also have domestic matters to attend to, with a tsunami of Premier League football heading our way.

Aston Villa vs Sheffield United perhaps isn’t where most eyes will be glued on Wednesday, but it’s arguably a fixture with far greater ramifications than Man City vs Arsenal.

Villa are two points adrift of safety—although a victory on Wednesday will propel them all the way up to 16th—while United go 5th with a win.

If the Bundesliga has taught us anything in recent weeks, it’s that home advantage counts for nothing, and playing behind closed doors significantly impacts struggling sides who rely on good home form to stay afloat (see: Union Berlin) – and Aston Villa certainly fall into this category.

17 of Villa’s 25 points have come at home this season, while United have been very, very solid on the road – with only Man City and Liverpool managing to beat them, which is extraordinary.

With a level playing field, Sheffield United’s quality will shine through in the absence of home fans, and a similar result to the 2-0 win that Chris Wilder and his side enjoyed at Bramall Lane back in December is a strong likelihood.

27/20 looks like a decent price for an away win, particularly if home sides suffer in the Premier League as much as they have done in the Bundesliga.
