Football expert Ryan Elliott brings you one tip for struggling West Ham's clash with Wolves.
West Ham vs Wolves on Saturday will undoubtedly have huge ramifications at both ends of the Premier League table.
The Hammers find themselves out of the relegation zone only on goal difference, while Wolves are only two points behind 5th place Manchester United at the time of writing – although the Red Devils could be further ahead after facing Spurs on Friday evening.
It’s been a running theme throughout pretty much every preview this week, but once again I envisage the home side to struggle.
West Ham had just started getting their home form in order—losing just one of their last five at the London Stadium, against Liverpool—before the season was postponed, and after seeing how the Bundesliga impacted sides playing at home (with almost a 50% win rate for away sides post-resumption), this spells very bad news for teams who were significantly stronger at home than on the road.
David Moyes’ men have lost their previous six away games, while Wolves have a better points-per-game ratio away from home (1.5) than they do at Molineux; this is only set to improve when the games are played behind closed doors.
Wolves have won the last three meetings between these two (all with clean sheets), and I like the look of the visitors to win and under 4.5 goals in the game, priced at 7/5.
Nuno’s men have much deeper reserves of quality, and considering they’re strong on the road in regular times, they should certainly relish the chance to beat West Ham at an empty London Stadium.
