Can Liverpool take another step towards the title? Football expert Ryan Elliott has an 11/10 tip for their clash with Crystal Palace.
So Liverpool cannot win the league at Anfield against Crystal Palace, so instead this match has something of an odd feel to it. We all know Jurgen Klopp’s will win the league sooner rather than later, so right now it just feels like the champions-elect are in a holding pattern, just waiting for the inevitable.
After the utterly horrendous Merseyside Derby on Sunday (a fixture which rarely entertains), this clash hardly gets the juices flowing.
Palace, while consistently on the receiving end of defeats at the hands of Liverpool, are generally pretty competitive in this fixture.
The Eagles dispatched Bournemouth with ease last time out, and while they have lost their last five league games against Liverpool, four of these have been by just the single goal; you’ll rarely see this Palace side hammered by anyone.
Liverpool looked like they were somewhat going through the motions at Goodison—understandable, with all sides demonstrating a certain degree of ring-rust—and with an empty Anfield unlikely to play much of a part in spurring the hosts on, a closely-fought encounter is on the cards once again.
The Eagles have conceded only 32 goals this season, and considering their recent performances against Liverpool, giving Palace a +2 handicap looks a solid play here.
It’s just a matter of getting over the line and the job done as far as Klopp is concerned, and you can be sure Roy Hodgson will go out to make this as difficult as possible.
I believe Liverpool will win, but the likelihood is it’ll be by just one goal.
