Newcastle (Draw No Bet)

Watford significantly eased their relegation worries last time out by securing an absolutely crucial win over Norwich, pulling themselves four points clear of the drop zone with a (slightly) better goal difference than those below them.

As for Newcastle, they come into this on the back of a hammering at the hands of Manchester City, which isn’t altogether surprising, but Steve Bruce will be demanding a reaction at they travel to Vicarage Road this Saturday.

While punters have been piling into the Hornets since the two sides’ respective mid-week results, I’m pretty interested in snapping up some of the value on offer for the visitors.

Of course, Watford’s win against Norwich was huge for them, but they only earned one point from their four games prior—losing to the likes of Burnley and Southampton—and their performance levels were generally very poor.

I’m not convinced that a victory against the worst side in the league, especially considering Norwich weren’t without their own huge opportunities to snatch a result, will mark a significant turning point in the quality Watford will start displaying on the pitch.

Meanwhile, the Magpies have only lost one of their five Premier League games since the break (against City), and have, perhaps surprisingly, found goals in plentiful supply – scoring 10 goals in their games against Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and West Ham.

Steve Bruce’s men have lost just three of their last 13 in the league, and I don’t believe Watford should be odds-on to beat them simply because they overturned a woeful Norwich side.

Nigel Pearson’s side are winless in their last three league games against Newcastle, so going for a Newcastle victory (draw no bet) at 13/5 looks generous value.
