Double Chance

The Premier League’s battle for the top four and avoiding relegation are going right down to the wire, with the focus very much on the former this Wednesday.

Though Liverpool will be lifting the Premier League trophy after the game, the main impetus will be on Chelsea, where a victory would guarantee them a top four finish and Champions League football next season.

It’s fair to say that since Liverpool wrapped up the Premier League title, they’ve been a little underwhelming. Much of that is understandable, but there will be a part of Jurgen Klopp that’s bitterly disappointed that his side haven’t been able to break Manchester City’s record points haul in a Premier League season.

In terms of value, I like the look of a Chelsea win/draw double chance.

Just two wins in their five games since winning the league isn’t a particularly impressive return, so it’s fair to say Chelsea—with four wins from their last five in all competitions—are the form side heading into this.

Furthermore, Liverpool have won just two of their last nine matches against Chelsea (after 90 minutes), and that’s a pretty big sample size, so there’s clearly some issue Liverpool have against the West Londoners.

Considering Chelsea’s extra motivation, the respective form of the two sides and what they have to play for, a double chance play for the visitors looks like the way to go.
