Draw/Man Utd

I must say, I didn’t expect Crystal Palace to beat Southampton in their opener, and yet, once again Roy Hodgson does what he does and got the job done (of course, this isn’t the case for his pathetic reign as England manager).

They have a much tougher assignment next, as they head to Old Trafford.

United are one of the sides who are yet to play this season due to their European exploits of a few weeks ago, and it’s a little tough to predict how they’ll start this season – will they stutter or shine?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be delighted with how his side finished the last Premier League season, although considering Palace brushed aside their abysmal finish last year by securing a win against Southampton, perhaps this won’t matter too much.

In terms of betting value, backing a draw at half-time and a Man Utd win at full time looks like a good option.

Palace conceded 60% of their goals in the second half of matches last season, and their recent clashes with United have followed a similar pattern.

United have scored nine goals against Palace in their last five meetings, with only two coming in the first half.

Hodgson will look to frustrate United and play on the break, and while this may be successful early on, this United side, particularly with Bruno Fernandes in the midfield, looks a cut above most other United sides we’ve seen in recent years, and therefore I like 17/5 for them to seal the deal in the second half.
