Leeds United vs Manchester City

Bielsa finally faces a disciple in the Premier League

  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Man City's last 7 games
  • Leeds have seen over 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 7 matches against Man City in all competitions
  • Leeds have scored 8 goals in their opening 3 games
  • Manchester City opened their season with a 5-2 defeat to Leicester

TIP 1: Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals

It should be one hell of a tactical battle in West Yorkshire on Saturday evening as Leeds entertain Manchester City. Both defences have looked suspect from the evidence we have so far, City were cut apart from a brave Leicester and Leeds will no doubt be equally courageous in their approach under the wizard Marcelo Bielsa.

Goals look to be on the menu given the defensive deficiencies of both sides and the high pressing nature of the pair should lead to presentable opportunities and an open affair. Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals is chalked up at 3/4 which looks a good way of squeezing some extra value out of a rather squeezed goal market.

TIP 2: Mateusz Klich to be carded

The infamous Mike Dean has the whistle for this one and he is renowned for being a card-happy official. The Wirral-born whistleblower might have to go into his pocket a few times here given the expected high intensity of both sides and one player expected to be in the midst of the battle is Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich. Klich picked up a caution against Fulham a fortnight ago and he racked up 8 yellows last term in the championship. This season he is averaging 1.7 fouls per game, more than any other Leeds player and should City break the press he is often vulnerable in the middle of the park. Quotes of 4/1 on him to be carded have to be worth an interest.

I’m also happy to put him to get on the scoresheet at a bulbous 11/2. Manchester City conceded three penalties last week against Leicester and look all at sea at the back, Leeds have a dangerous host of players who can draw fouls from the rash City defence and guess who’s on spot kick duty for the Whites?

TIP 3: Mateusz Klich to score anytime

Klich slotted home a penalty against Fulham and also often arrives late into the box, averaging 1.7 shots per game last season and has managed 16 goals in his last two seasons at Elland Road. Given the amount of penalties with VAR and the new handball law, he should be shorter to bag all things considered and is worthy of a one point play.

Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals - 1pt @ 3/4
Mateusz Klich to be shown a card - 1pt @ 4/1
Mateusz Klich to score anytime - 1pt @ 11/2
