Aston Villa vs Man Utd Match Prediction

Aston Villa are in scintillating form, having won their last six league matches. Their strengths lie in coming back from losing positions and creating chances through individual skill. However, they can be vulnerable in defending set pieces. Man Utd, on the other hand, are strong at creating long shot opportunities and scoring chances, but struggle with defending counter attacks and protecting the lead. The statistical forecast suggests that Man Utd will create many scoring chances, but Aston Villa will make a comeback if they go behind. Given Aston Villa's current form and home advantage, a narrow victory for the Villains seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: Aston Villa 2-1 Man Utd

Macca's Aston Villa vs Man Utd Bet Builder Tip

A festive showdown at Villa Park sees a flying Aston Villa side put their momentum to the test against a ‘somewhat’ resurgent Manchester United.

Unai Emery’s team arrives chasing a tenth straight win in all competitions and, more importantly, looking to keep themselves firmly in the title conversation. Villa have found different ways to win during this run, from controlled home performances to chaotic, end to end away wins at Brighton, for example, and that adaptability has been a big part of their run in form.

The question is whether they can sustain it, though. Villa’s goals have been spectacular but spectacular also means they’re overperforming xG, and it’s hard not to regress to the xG figures long term.

United’s recent results have been unpredictable but entertaining. Ruben Amorim’s side are creating chances at least, particularly away from home yet defensively they continue to undermine their progress as seen with last week's 4-4 display against Bournemouth.

Historically, United rarely fear this fixture, but this is a very different United and, right now, also a very different Aston Villa.

Macca's Aston Villa vs Man United Bet Builder Tip includes Cunha to take over 2.5 shots and Morgan Rogers to Score or Assist.

Best odds of 12/5 available at bet365 while publishing.

Leg 1: Cunha over 2.5 shots

Cunha started the season a bit quieter with Mbeumo grabbing the headlines, but his role has shifted in the last couple of games, and the shot volume has really exploded. He’s been used furthest forward in United’s last two matches and has taken 16 shots across those games!

With Mbeumo away at AFCON and Sesko only just returning from injury, there’s a strong chance Amorim keeps Cunha leading the line again. A lot of predicted XIs have him starting up top. Cunha is also averaging 4.1 shots per 90 this season.

If United are going to threaten Villa Park, Cunha is one of the few players who can consistently create his own chances, and Mbeumo’s absence only increases his importance in the United attack.

Leg 2: Morgan Rogers to score or assist

Morgan Rogers has been one of Villa’s standout performers all season, and he’s still driving this current surge. Villa didn’t exactly come flying out of the blocks, as a team, they were lacking a lot of energy around the pitch, but they now come into today's game with nine straight wins, and Rogers has been heavily involved in that run, starting eight of those games and recording seven goal involvements.

The market is also pointing towards a game with goals, with over 2.5 around the 1.60 mark, and that suits Rogers perfectly. United have looked vulnerable defensively, and if we pair that with what the market says should be a high scoring game, then it should increase Rogers' chance of a goal contribution.
