Inter Milan v Roma – Sunday 19:45, BT Sport 1

After a narrow loss at Juventus, Inter Milan have bounced back well in the last two weeks with victories over Empoli at home and Bologna away, but they will know that this week’s visit from Roma will pose a sterner test than those two previous wins. Roma’s run of 10 wins in 12 league matches suggests they will have no fear about visiting Milan, but they’ve lost this fixture in each of the last two seasons and on current form this is second only to a trip to Juventus in terms of difficulty.

Inter Milan’s have won each of their last five home games against top-six sides while conceding just twice and their recent form is such that they’ve won nine of their last 10 matches with only Juventus breaking that streak. Furthermore, seven of their nine wins in that run have been to nil and at home they’ve won eight in a row. They’ve conceded only once in their last five in this stretch, so the San Siro faithful will expect all three points. Roma’s own excellent run has seen them win four of their last six on the road but it has to be noted that they’ve lost five of seven trips this season to teams currently in the top half.

Roma will make them work hard, but we think Inter will secure a win here. Edin Dzeko has been in great form for Roma but 13 of his 19 league goals have come at home and with Inter’s defence in such good form we think they can keep the former Man City man quiet and with that take the points.
