We have a couple of extra Rome derbies this term after Lazio and Roma were drawn against each other in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia for the right to play either Juve or Napoli in the final. Roma have certainly had the better of this fixture in recent times, winning five of seven unbeaten meetings since 2013/14.
Lazio got past Inter in the last round, winning 2-1 at the San Siro and since then they’ve won three of four unbeaten league games. However, they remain vulnerable defensively as they’ve kept only one clean sheet in their last nine in all competitions, so there should be goals in this one, particularly as Roma are the second highest scorers in Serie A behind Napoli.
Indeed, Roma have scored at least twice in the last five Rome derbies, whilst they warmed up for this one by putting three past in-form Inter at the San Siro on Sunday. Lazio also played on Sunday and since Roma have no real selection concerns while Lazio have two first choice players suspended, we think Spalletti’s men look a big price to win at 2.4 as they bid to add to their tally of nine Coppa Italias.
