The Masters 2024

Masters 2024 Tips

The Masters is one in particular where we pour over a lot of history and stats on route to finding a potential winner but it remains one of the most difficult to predict. Little separates the top 15-20 or so in the market and it is always a tough task to choose between them.

One stands out at 50/1 and it is TOM KIM. The 21-year-old star has already broken records in just a two season career to date. He became the second youngest player to win a PGA Tour event when winning the Wyndham Championship back in August of 2022.

He then joined Tiger Woods as being the only twosome to have won multiple PGA Tour events before turning 21. He was the 3rd youngest ever to play the Presidents Cup when making his debut at Quail Hollow last year.

Those records are all phenomenal in their own regard but it was the way he ended 2023 that was really eye catching. A run of nine events saw out the year with his worst finish being 24th and having posted his best two Major finishes at the US Open (8th) and the Open Championship (runner up) he looks a real danger in Majors in 2024.

The previous Major result is always a good starting point when analysing the next and Kim's performance at Hoylake was even more impressive given the fact he hobbled his way throughout the four days following an ankle injury earlier in the week.

Kim defended his title at Summerlin in October and three very decent efforts on the DPWT late in 2023 was good to see as versatility travelling is always a positive.

Kim doesn't hit the ball overly far, but you don't need to at Augusta and instead his incredibly consistent iron play and short game will be key to contending. He posted that all important top 20 there on debut last year and having had one look he can be expected to give an even better account of himself next time around.

USPGA Championship 2024

US PGA Championship 2024 Tips

It is no secret just what I think of LUDVIG ABERG and what he can achieve in the game so I'd be foolish not to get him on side for one of the four next year.

Scheffler, Rahm Rory or Hovland look destined to take the favourite spots but I believe there is only one other golfer who could potentially get into that bracket, and if he keeps rattling at the pace he has done there is no limit to what price he could go off.

A win on both tours in just six months on the circuit is an incredible return and he was close to adding to that tally on a few occasions. There really is no weakness to his game but he'll be best suited by a layout that doesn't overly test the short game. Valhalla at the PGA looks like the one and I'd be surprised if it isn't a bomber dominated leaderboard.

Aberg is a powerhouse and learning quickly. It'd be no surprise should he get off the mark quickly in Majors, just like he has done in regular events and the USPGA will only be his second appearance at one of the big four. The Masters may be beyond him on debut, but I expect a bold bid at Valhalla.

US Open 2024

US Open 2024 Tips

MIN WOO LEE will be licking his chops with the Major venues ahead in 2024 and quite frankly he has a fair chance in all four.

Many will look to Augusta because of his shining short game but it must be said his approach play is nowhere near sparkling enough on a consistent basis to be a winner around there. You need both aspects in Georgia and out of them all I'd have the Masters as his least likely venue.

Having won the Scottish Open, Royal Troon will be one where he is touted heavily, but Pinehurst no2 looks like the ideal venue for the Australian at the US Open in June. Back in 1999 Phil Mickelson was edged out by Payne Stewart in arguably one of the best Major Sundays of all time.

The upturned saucer greens that week were ideal for a short game wizard like Mickelson. In 2014 Martin Kaymer tamed the layout by using a putter from off the greens, and that separated himself from the rest.

A lot of this test will come down to short game alone and Min Woo will be an ideal candidate. There was an argument for more victories but having won on the Asian tour in October then winning the Australian PGA he has set himself up for a career defining year having also posted his first Major top 5 at LA Country Club last June.

The Open Championship 2024

The Open Championship 2024 Tips

The 2023 Ryder Cup may provide a springboard for a handful of the young Europeans but one of the more experienced types in the shape of SEPP STRAKA looks capable of continuing a fine year.

At Oak Hill he posted his first Major top 10 and it didn't take long to post another with a runner up finish at Hoylake. The Austrian bagged his second PGA Tour title when winning the John Deere Classic in July but it's maybe his maiden victory the year previous that is more worthy of note.

Fowler, Scott, Harrington, McIlroy, Els, Hamilton, Leonard, Kuchar, Parnevik, O'Meara and Price are a handful since the 90s who have won the Honda Classic at PGA National and also written themselves into Open folklore by winning it or going close.

It is always a course on the PGA Tour worth noting when trying to decipher the Open winner and a win there only adds to his chances at Troon. He finished off 2023 with a runner up to Scheffler at the Hero World Challenge and certainly has the potential to go off half his current price of 100/1.
