Ginger Joe has picked out three betting tips for this week's PGA Tour Event, The Australian PGA Championship.
Australian PGA Championship
The DP World Tour is finally back with the Australian PGA Championship, the first event of the Australian Swing. We have a strong lineup for this event, and it’s easy to fancy Min Woo Lee, Marco Penge, plus a few others, but I find if you back those at 10/1 and shorter, it doesn’t give you much room for manoeuvre.
So even though the pair mentioned have to be fancied, and strongly too, I am going to take them on with a trio a little further down the market, but players that should have just as strong a chance for the most part.
The Royal Queensland Golf Club isn’t overly long, but it requires a good course management strategy if you are to score well here, so good ball strikers and some correlating form at similar courses are welcome this week.
I wanted to find some bigger priced selections for this event, but the attributes just aren’t there. The three players I have come up with offer strong credentials and enough value for us to get involved in. This should be a really good tournament to watch, and hopefully it unfolds in our favour.
DAN HILLIER - 1.5pt Each-Way

I’ve really enjoyed watching Dan Hillier this season, and his game has got better as the year has progressed. His ball-striking has improved significantly, and that is what’s allowing him to score far more consistently on courses that suit his game. So I see no reason why he can’t post a few low numbers around this layout.
He can shape the ball both ways, which I think is a massively underrated trait for course management style golf courses, and his approach play has been consistently strong. His putting has also taken a big step forward this year, and that is always a major positive, especially while the rest of his game is in such good nick.
While his chipping isn’t the strongest part, if he continues to strike his irons the way he has for most of the year, then he shouldn’t face too many of those awkward up-and-downs anyway. Overall, Hillier’s game has been genuinely impressive in 2025, and I think he’s well-positioned to go very nicely this week.
ELVIS SMYLIE - 1.5pt Each-Way

Elvis Smylie was the first player that came to my mind when taking a look at the course this week, and he has really developed into a smart player this season. He has had some nice results in some big tournaments, and it would be no surprise to see him take one of the events during the Australian Swing.
He is a little volatile when it comes to the longer courses on Tour, but this is a perfect layout for his game, and there are a lot of similarities between him and Dan Hillier. He likes to shape the ball both ways, and his game is often based on hitting plenty of greens in regulation by finding a good position off the tee, so he has to come under consideration here.
His short game is solid from chipping to putting, so his wayward shots here wouldn’t worry me too much because, despite plenty of tiers around these green areas, he is plenty creative, and he would be one of the more reliable players at getting up and down.
Midnite
The performance that stands out to me as the ideal replica for this week would be his performance in the French Open, because he will have to play this course in a very similar way. This is a competitive event, and there doesn’t look to be too much value here, but he is one of the more tempting prices for sure, so he makes the squad this week.
RYAN FOX - 1.5pt Each-Way

For me, Ryan Fox at peak form is one of the top five players in this field, and his resume might actually be the best of the lot. He has won a wide range of big events on completely different styles of courses, which speaks volumes about his versatility.
He’s taken titles at the BMW PGA Championship, Ras Al Khaimah, and the Alfred Dunhill Links, and that’s just on the DP World Tour. On the PGA Tour, he’s added wins at both the Myrtle Beach Classic and the RBC Canadian Open.
No matter the layout, he just proves himself to be a genuinely world-class golfer. Although he’s not widely regarded as a big hitter, he’s deceptively long off the tee, especially considering he plays a fade. But what stands out most for me this week is his iron play.
I love the way he flights his irons, and that consistent fade allows him to hit a ton of greens in regulation, which has been the foundation of his game for years. On this track, sticking to a clear game plan will be important, and as a largely one-shape ball-striker, that could actually work in his favour.
While others might tinker or change strategy as the week unfolds, Fox will arrive knowing exactly how he wants to play it. For me, he looks slightly overpriced this week.
