Bryson Dechambeau at 33/1 (Six Places)

Xander Schauffele, Bryson Dechambeau and Rory McIlroy have held three of the last four first round leads at the PGA Championship. Generally speaking there is a big name either leading after day one or at least in the top 3. We'll start with the biggest name in our staking plan for day one in the shape of Bryson Dechambeau. This weeks course has been likened to the 2023 venue Oak Hill where Dechambeau nabbed the first round lead with an opening 66. With a couple of first round leaders posted at Augusta as well Bryson is a machine in these sort of events. Perfect preparation in nearby Virginia last week makes him a really decent prospect for Outright punters but with coldest conditions of the week set to take place tomorrow Bryson may be well equipped to bomb it further than anyone else in that air and give himself the most opportunities.

Shane Lowry at 80/1 (Five Places)

With winds due to gust up to 28mph on Thursday and generally chilly conditions I can't resist adding Shane Lowry. I don't think Lowry is in quite the form to perform over four days and win a Major championship but he can certainly take advantage of suitable conditions tomorrow. A steady breeze will be in play all day and could get quite gusty throughout the afternoon and I'm keen on getting a few on board in round one who can really control their ball flight. Lowry's approach game was excellent at the start of the season but during this quiet period the last couple of months it's worth noting that he hasn't relented in that department. With tricky surfaces when missing greens Lowry is well positioned to make gains on the field around them and at some stage throughout the four days I'd expect him to have some success. Day one looks like the ideal set up for him.

Gary Woodland at 80/1 (Five Places)

Finally I'm adding Gary Woodland. One could have understood if Woodland had slightly tapered off following his win in Texas but he has really stepped up since. A solid top 35 at the Masters has been backed up with 8th at the Heritage and 17th at the Truist. Woodland landed the first round lead at Bellerive back in the 2018 edition of this event and playing as well as he is has to be a threat this week. Overall his low ball flight and ability to shape the ball into some hidden pin positions should be a good advantage on day one with the forecast conditions.
