Trends articles for these Majors are not everyone's cup of tea but they have given us a winner and two runner up finishers in three of the last four Major Championships. Last years Masters trends article left Rory McIlroy at the top of the list who of course landed the grand slam. The 2025 PGA article selected Bryson Dechambeau as the one to follow and he finished 2nd. Another runner up came at this years Masters when Scheffler was one of the '100% Club' guys who could not be knocked out.
With this event being held on a different course every year it isn't the easiest to profile in terms of trends but there are numerous aspects that seem to come into play every year.

US Open 2026 Betting Trends & Tips
To narrow down the field before knocking each player out we will use DataGolf's world ranking system which is much more reliable than the official one during these times.
- Nine of the last eleven winners have come from inside the top 25 in the world so that's the criteria we will use to start the process of narrowing the field.
- Winners of this event do not come out of the blue and winning form of some kind over the previous 18 months looks imperative. 15 of the last 16 winners had either won that season or the season prior.
- Fourteen of the last sixteen US Open Champions had posted both a top 25 at this event and Major top 10 finish.
- In an event where conditions are often extremely tough you'd think experience is key, and it is, however the pendulum swings once you reach your 10th US Open. 11 of the last 14 winners have been 31 years old or younger. 12 of the last 14 winners have played in at least 3 US Opens whilst the last 12 winners have played no more than 9 US Opens before winning.

There are four which hit all the criteria and thus enter the 100% Club and they are Scottie Scheffler, Cam Young, John Rahm and Collin Morikawa.
If we really wanted to slice this foursome in half we could remove Collin Morikawa and Scottie Scheffler as eight of the last ten winners of the US Open have ranked inside the top 20 for Driving Distance that week.
Rahm would comfortably make the grade whilst Young is 14th on tour this season in that statistic. Scheffler ranking 33rd and Morikawa 111th means they could be eliminated for betting purposes.
5 of the last 6 winners of the US Open have been first time Major winners so Cameron Young ticks all the boxes for our trends pick.
