Europe heads to Bethpage Black with history not on their side. They have not won a Ryder Cup on U.S. soil in five attempts, their last triumph coming in the famous “Miracle at Medinah” in 2012, when they came from 10–4 down to secure a stunning victory.

Despite that record, punters appear to favour Europe to win the Ryder Cup, with 57% of bets this week backing them to win, compared to 34% for the United States.

Confidence is bolstered by players in form such as Rory McIlroy, who recently triumphed in Ireland, and Tommy Fleetwood, who is enjoying a scintillating run of form. In contrast, the U.S. side faces question marks over key players, including Colin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay, alongside several rookies whose ability to perform under testing conditions remains uncertain.

Henley is likely to tee it up with Scottie Scheffler twice this week in the foursomes - a pairing that went 2-1 at the last Presidents Cup.

He has seen 57% of bets in his favour in this market this week.

He will need to win those foursomes and perform in the fourballs without Scottie, but there is a good chance Henley plays all five sessions as one of the most in-form players on the American side.
