Michael Smyth is back with three Greyhound selection at Sheffield this evening.
Garfiney Blaze ran out an impressive winner of the 2025 Cesarewitch final last night at Central Park. The Mark Wallis trained six-bend superstar turned mid pack but showed huge middle gears to chase down leader Bright Jewel who ran from T6.
The writing was on the wall at the fifth bend when the 2024 Cesarewitch champion loomed large on the inside of that rival, Blaze then hit the front off the final bend to land the £12,500 prize for his connections.
This afternoon we head to Sheffield for an ultra-competitive mixed card featuring six open races. Catch the action live on the Attheraces greyhound channel, Sky Sports Racing red button or via bookmaker streaming services.

In heat one of the Owlerton Stadium Stayers competition at 5.01 DIXIES MAJESTIC appeals from T6. The Rose Draper trained wide seed looks well-drawn to turn handy and if that happens it’s race on. In recent weeks the June 22 son of Droopys Sydney has caught my eye staying on well over the four-bend 500 metre trip, this afternoon he steps back up to 660 metres and trip he's got a two in three record over. Distant Fox will attempt to make all from T1 as will Easy Ride Bo in T5. Trickycinderella (T3) is a decent six- bend performer and would be a danger to all granted a clear run.
Heat two of the Owlerton Stadium Stayers competition can go to well-drawn solo wide seed TODDYS THUNDER in T6. The Newcastle raider looks plotted up here and with a smart exit she will prove hard to beat. Toddys Thunder is race fit with two recent runs under her belt, Trickys Matilda (T2) who appears to be our main rival hasn’t run since late November, she may pop out and attempt to make all but stamina could be an issue on her reappearance, she is however, one to watch over the competition, she's a very pacey performer when fully tuned up.
The third and final selection for us today is CLONA DASH (T4) in the Owlerton Stadium Maiden open race at 5.37 over the standard four-bend 500 metre trip. Newcastle raider Clona Hawk is capable of winning this from the front or if he turns handy, he's got nice middle gears and will stay the trip out strong. The key to victory is trapping level, his natural early pace will then see him hit the front down the back straight and once on the bunny he can power clear of the chasing pack. Consistent wide seed Distant Val is well-drawn out in T6 and could be the one to chase home Clona Hawk.
