Andy Holding struck with two winners yesterday so be sure to check out today's advice.
DEEP TROUBLE (best price 4/1)
was in the process of running a big race at Market Rasen the other day until disaster struck five from home, but providing there’s no lasting damage from that untimely unseat, there’s a decent chance he will make amends this afternoon. Prior to that capsize five days ago, Ben Case’s charge had pushed the very smart Doctor Harper for quite a way at Leicester and that level of form entitles him to the utmost respect here.
Deep Trouble - 1pt @ 4/1Lost -1pts
BROKOPONDO (best price 6/1)
is about as reliable as you’re likely to find in a race of this nature and he looks a fair each-way bet to hit the frame at the very least in this competitive 1m 2f handicap. Other than one modest effort when forced to race extremely wide down the home straight, his record at tonight’s track reads 3123 and following another solid performance behind two in-from rivals here last week, Johnny Levin’s charge looks set to go well again over a trip that suits him best.
Brokopondo - 1pt e/w @ 6/1Lost -2pts
RUBY GATES (best price 11/4)
ran a race full of promise on debut here 28 days ago and she’s expected to make the necessary improvement to become much more competitive this time around. After totally fluffing her lines at the start, Aidan O’Brien’s inmate found herself with a mountain to climb after a furlong, but gradually working her way back into contention, she stayed on encouragingly all the way down the straight to finish a never-nearer fifth at the line. Potentially well drawn tonight of she can break on terms, the extra furlong should also suit this Avonbridge filly down to the ground and she rates a decent bet at 11/4 to build on that initial positive beginning.
Ruby Gates - 1pt @ 11/4Lost -1pts
LEX TALIONIS (best price 12/1)
shaped well in a hot conditions race here last week and as such, he should find tonight’s opponents a little easier to handle. Up against three useful colts who’d all exhibited a fair level of all-weather form, Johnny Levin’s charge kept to quite well after getting swamped for speed running down to the furlong maker and, considering the trio were all rated 80+, an opening mark of 75 for his handicap debut doesn’t appear too excessive.
