Both ATTRIBUTION (NAP) (best price 4/1) and Gurteen have had the misfortune to see the back of Min’s backside this season, but as the former’s performance carries a little more substance, Henry De Bromhead’s inmate rates the value pick in a tricky little listed race. Not seen out since that decent effort at Punchestown 57 days ago, the form of that Grade 2 contest has been boosted in the best possible fashion by the third home, Ball D’Arc, going on to score nicely next time out and the son of Alhaarth can maintain his consistent level of form and gain the bragging rights over the other Giggingstown-owned runner, Burgas, who turn out to be the main threat.

KATNAP (best price 4/1) has for quite some time now intimated that a drop to the minimum trip might just help his cause and that theory is put to the test in this beginners chase. For most of his career over fences, Sue Bramell’s inmate has been campaigned over 2m 4f and beyond, and while he has posted some notable performances in some of those races, his suspect stamina at the backend has always prevented him from getting his head in front. Indeed, last time out at Fairyhouse was a classic case in point when he looked to have a similar race to todays by the scruff of the neck until capitulating late on and being run down by the useful Vedettariat. Being a bold front-runner, it will interesting how this race develops between himself and the other notable pace-setter Rory O’Moore, but providing they don’t soften each other up, the son of Sleeping Car should ensure we get a decent run for our money at the very least.

Connections of LIBBY MAE (best price 2/1) will no doubt have one eye on the final of this series later in the season, but Micky Hammond’s mare is still expected to put up another bold show at a track where her form figures read 1112. Although the daughter of High Chaparral lost her unbeaten record at the Durham venue last time out, she certainly lost nothing in defeat splitting two very useful geldings who are both held in high regard and a repeat of that level of form should ensure she gives southern raider, Bella, plenty to think about.
